Carvan is Pan-African auto-fintech infrastructure — conceived in Uganda, built for the continent, and expanding to serve every African dreaming of vehicle ownership.
Africa's vehicle markets are large, growing, and deeply underserved. Millions of qualified buyers cannot access financing. Thousands of dealers operate without structure or trust. Banks receive incomplete applications and reject viable customers.
Carvan exists to fix this. Not by being another listing site. By being the structured digital layer that makes every transaction verifiable, every buyer qualified, and every dealer accountable.
We believe that vehicle ownership is transformative — for families, for businesses, for communities. And we believe that every African who earns a vehicle deserves a trustworthy path to own one.
Jonathan Ndakola is the Founder and Group CEO of Carvan Technologies Ltd — a Pan-African auto-fintech marketplace headquartered in Kampala, Uganda.
Carvan was conceived from firsthand observation of the inefficiencies, fraud, and financing gaps that define African automotive markets. The insight was simple but profound: the problem was not demand, it was infrastructure. Buyers existed. Dealers existed. Banks existed. What was missing was the structured digital layer connecting all three.
Jonathan built Carvan to be that layer — starting in Uganda, expanding through East Africa, and ultimately serving the entire continent as the Stripe × AutoTrader of Africa.
He leads the company's overall strategy, technology vision, bank partnership development, and investor relations — including the growing Ugandan diaspora investor community in Florida and Canada.
A lean, mission-driven team building infrastructure for a continent.
Whether you're a buyer, dealer, investor, or partner — Carvan has a place for you.
